The Problem – A new HVAC system with outdoor air and energy recovery ventilation was required in an older high-rise bank building being renovated into a Drury Hotel. In order to install the new HVAC unit in the available confined space, the air handler and energy recovery cassette had to be carried in pieces through standard doorways and up fire stairs for assembly in the top floor equipment room. The energy recovery cassette was sized for 25,000 cfm.
The Solution –
Airxchange provided an energy recovery cassette, wheel and energy
transfer segments broken down into sizes suitable for one man to carry
to the equipment room. The cassette was added to the air handler unit
when its deck and half walls were completed. Everyone agreed that the
field installed version of the Airxchange lightweight, durable cassette
made the job easy. The Airxchange wheel is expected to lower
Drury’s HVAC operating cost by approximately $29,000 per year.
